On the night of July 3rd, while Abby was getting ready to go out, John hid the ring under their bed.  Earlier in the day he had made a CD of music to be played that night. The third song on the CD was "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys, one of Abby's favorite songs.  When the song came on it was his cue to complain that he couldn't find his shoes and coax Abby into helping him look.  When Abby bent down to look under the bed she saw the ring. John knelt down, retreived the ring, and asked Abby to marry him. And of course, she said "YES!!!"
