About the Bride

Abigail was born to Tom and Georgi Nelson and was raised in Kennebunk, Maine for the first 18 years of her life. She currently resides in New York City, where she has lived for the past 5 years. The last 2 years have been the best, most fun and happiest because she has been living with her favorite person, best friend and love of her life, John Pattavina (and his beard). She has been employed by the JFK, Jr. Institute at the City University of New York for over a year now and recently completed a Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. Her interests include: cooking, eating, exploring the city, working out, traveling and wedding planning (!!!). Abigail and John have one cat together, Maxine.

About the Groom

John is a very attractive man. Born to Joe and Joyce Pattavina in Middletown, Ct. in 1978.  John's greatest pitfall is his taste for the sweets. He enjoys photography and good conversations. Loves fun, funny people yet hates people when they are trying to be funny.  John is in school studying Educational theater at the graduate level and has had a beard since the 9th grade.  Early in  High school his beard earned him acclaim, helping him to achieve Freshman class president. That was the extent of John's beard's acheivments.   John on the other hand has a few more plooms to put in his cap of acheivment.  However, no ploom so cherished as the one awarded for having won the heart of Abigail Nelson. A life full of school, graduations, comedy, theater, photography, and waiting tables holds no single event as important to John as the day he met Abby.

How we met

Abby and John both attended Clark University in Worcester , MA.  John, an arrogant and elitist actor/comedian, and Abby, a depressed recluse in  Dodd Hall, shared a few joint friends but rarely crossed paths.  In those days Abby saw John as a first class jerk and John didn't see Abby as much of anything, since she was so reclusive and depressed.  However, love struck one night almost 3 years after college over instant messenger. Abigail had IM'd John to find out who he was and why he was on her buddy list- apparently a friend had added his screnn name to her account many years earlier.  Abigail was living in Hoboken, NJ and John in Chicago, IL. They stuck up a friendship that spanned 1,000 miles. This friendship gave way to greater feelings and actual phone conversations and Abigail eventually traveled to visit John in Chicago for the first time in August 2005 (a mere 4 months after re-connecting). Over the next couple of years, they tangoed with the trials and tribulations of the long-distance relationship, but their love was strong. Finally, in August 2007,  John moved to New York and they have been living happily after ever since!
